PiDashboard

Pi Dashboard is an in-development, consolidated control and monitoring interface for my home infrastructure. It follows the earlier Pi Cluster work, with a focus on a more coherent interface rather than distributing services across several nodes.

Target architecture

The target host is a Raspberry Pi 4 with 4 GB RAM, a 32 GB microSD card and Raspberry Pi OS Lite 64-bit. The software direction combines Docker Compose, a FastAPI backend, a Svelte and TypeScript frontend, and SQLite.

Development is intended to move from my MacBook through a Git repository, then be cloned and deployed to the Pi. The interface follows the same restrained preferences as this portfolio: black background, boxy layout, thin borders and clear typography.

Planned capabilities

• Beszel integration for monitoring.
• Wake-on-LAN for my PC.
• Network diagnostic utilities.
• Engineering calculators and tools.
• Audit logging for relevant operations.

These describe the architecture and current direction, not a list of verified working features.

Remote access and trust boundaries

The planned remote-access path uses Cloudflare Tunnel and Cloudflare Access, with Google/Gmail and GitHub identity providers and a requirement for two-factor authentication.

Operations that genuinely need host access are intended to go through a restricted privileged host-agent, rather than giving the general web application unrestricted control. Authentication, authorization and the permitted operations need to be implemented and verified before treating that boundary as secure.

Current status

The project remains in development. This case study records the target design; it does not imply that every integration, security control or deployment step is complete.
